It was an afternoon of celebrating excellence in local business on Wednesday, when the 21st annual Business Excellence Awards were put off by the St. John’s Board of Trade at the Convention Centre.
The St. John’s Board of Trade held its 21st annual Business Excellence Awards ceremony at the St. John’s Convention Centre Wednesday, December 3, 2013. Take the Shot Productions Inc., a television and film production company, walked away with two awards — the Entrepreneurial Spirit category and the overall Business Excellence Award. The big winners of the event were recognizable not just for their success around town, but for their success in national television, too.
Take the Shot Productions — represented at the awards by Allan Hawco, John Vatcher and Perry Chafe — first won the award for Entrepreneurial Spirit, and later won the Business Excellence Award, described by the Board of Trade as “the most prestigious award given by the St. John’s Board of Trade (that) recognizes innovation, creativity, sales growth and the passion for success demonstrated by the annual winner.”
“I can’t even begin to tell you what an honour this is,” Hawco said.
Take the Shot Productions produces “Republic of Doyle,” along with many other projects.
“We are continuing to develop productions with every major network across the country, with the one main objective to produce that material here and provide work for Newfoundlanders and, at the same time, celebrate, explore and promote our cultural identity in Newfoundland and Labrador,” Hawco said.
