ROB BLACKIE (Writer/Producer/Director) is an award winning filmmaker who holds a Masters in Fine Arts (Film) from Columbia University (2007) along with a Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws from Dalhousie University (1999). Rob gained attention as Co-Creator and Co-Showrunner of the International award winning Netflix/Discovery Canada show Frontier (Seasons 1, 2 and now 3). In recent years, Rob served as producer, writer and director for the CBC show Republic of Doyle. Most recently, Rob was the executive producer for CBC’s Caught (original 5 x 60 drama series) and CBC’s Little Dog (original 7 x 30 comedy series) where both shows premiered in Spring 2018 to excellent ratings and reviews.
His career in the film and television industry began in 2000 as a Production Supervisor with Halifax-based production company IMX Communications Inc. In 2004, he joined Granada America New York, post-producing and supervising various hit shows, including A&E’s “The First 48” and “Dallas SWAT”. In 2005, while in New York, Rob directed the awarding-winning short Deathsquad. Rob has also produced feature length projects as Love & Savagery (2009), Cast No Shadow (2014) and Braven (2018).
